The cablex Academy offers specialist and safety courses for your professional development. Expand your expertise in the areas of network construction, service and installation with a focus on telecommunications network construction.

The cablex Academy is a recognised training centre. With a small group size of a maximum of eight people, you benefit in particular from the expertise of our "own" instructors. The courses take place on the cablex premises in Oftringen, Switzerland. The language of instruction is German.

Splicing course for Fox network construction - basics (NE3).

Target audience:
New employees and people who have little or no practical knowledge

Objective of the course:
Basic training in splicing and assembly technology, optical fibre cable network construction 

Contents:

  • Fundamentals of optical communications engineering
  • Presentation of various optical fibre splicers 
  • Splicing of different fibre types (multi-mode, single-mode G652, G657) 
  • Preparation of different cable types
  • Labelling
  • Overview of the various acceptance measurements
  • Assembly and safety regulations and protective measures

Splicing course for Fox network construction (NE3).

Target audience:
Fitters with knowledge in the field of optical fibre cable network construction

Prerequisite for participation:
Prior participation in the Fox splicing course – basic training 

Objective of the course:
Providing more in-depth knowledge of splicing and assembly technology in the field of optical fibre cable network construction 

Contents:

  • Independent recording of the content of order documents
  • Creating the corresponding material list – correct choice of material
  • Inserting main cables into power distributors and sleeves
  • Creating connection splices 
  • Opening and labelling various micro cables, inserting the cables into power distributors
  • Thorough cleaning of fibres and placement of fibres in the splice boxes specified in the splice report
  • Mounting termination point line technology, depositing micro cables, depositing in the corresponding box 
  • Testing systems

Target audience:
Measurement technicians, site managers and project managers who create Fox measurement documentation

Objective of the course:
Independent creation of cablex measurement documentation

Contents:

  • Preparation of new projects in the Fibercloud server
  • Evaluation of the OTDR measurements, bidirectionally with the FiberDoc/Fibercloud programme
  • Preparation of the attenuation measured values from the Kingfisher measuring unit
  • Preparation of the PMD/CD measured values from the JDSU measuring station
  • Preparation of the documents for manually recorded measured values
  • Creation of the cablex standard measurement documentation

FTTH training on in-house installation and measurement technology (NE4).

Target audience:
Assembly personnel for in-house installations (NE4) and fault repair service technicians (NE4)

Objective of the course:
The graduates of the course know: 

  • the fire protection requirements and use of the appropriate installation material
  • the valid installation guidelines and can apply them
  • the various GF subscriber outlets and APLs and can connect them correctly
  • the use of splicing equipment and can carry out splices correctly
  • the requirements for acceptance measurements and the procedures for fault isolation 

Contents:

  • FTTH in-house installations, their execution in accordance with the applicable specifications, performance of the relevant measurements
  • Handling optical fibre
  • Knowledge of materials and choice of materials (fire protection requirements)
  • Installation technology
  • Connecting APLs and GF subscriber outlets
  • Reading splice plans, preparing for splicing and splicing
  • Theoretical insight into Fox measurement technology (the Fox measurement technology basic course must be attended for in-depth knowledge and application)

Working in shafts.

Target audience:
All employees who work in and on shafts, i.e. open and enter shafts

Prerequisite for participation:
Prior participation in the SIGNALISATION course 
 
Objective of the course:

Safe working in shafts, back-friendly lifting and carrying of manhole covers; prevention of damage to the musculoskeletal system; familiarisation with tools and their correct use

Contents:

  • Familiarisation with the basic rules and hazards
  • Use of the necessary PPE
  • Correct procedure before entering the shaft
  • Correct use of the available tools

Signalisation course.

Target audience:
All employees who carry out work on and around transport carriers

Contents:

  • Legal principles of occupational safety

  • Construction site setup in practice
  • Work on the road
  • High-visibility clothing in accordance with EN 471 or ISO 20471
  • Behaviour in the track area

Your personal equipment.

Please remember to bring the necessary equipment and to protect yourself properly from health hazards.

As a course participant, you are responsible for bringing your own personal equipment. In the confirmation of participation for your booked course, we will tell you which materials and equipment you need to bring with you. They include, for example, personal protective equipment, tools or IT equipment.

The cancellation conditions.

Registrations for the courses are binding.

In the event that you cancel your registration, fail to show up without cancelling or drop out of the course, the following cancellation conditions apply:

  • There are no costs up to 15 days before the start of the course.
  • In the event of cancellation between 14 and 7 days before the start of the course, 50 per cent of the costs will be charged.
  • In the event of cancellation 7 or fewer days before the start of the course, in the event of non-attendance or termination (for events lasting several days), 100 per cent of the costs will be charged.

Cancellations must be made in writing. A substitute may be proposed.
